Obervations of a metal brick.Metal_Block.JPG

Mass:22.71g
Length:4cm
Height:1cm
Width:2cm

Volume:8cm cubed
Density:2.83g/cm cubed

The brick is a bright silver color. I believe it is aluminum.

D=M/V
V=L~W~H

In the clay lab we found out that the density of a large piece of clay is the same as the small piece. Both density were 1.8(g/cm3)

MASS

Large piece: 55.56g
Small piece: 27.78g

VOLUME
Large piece: 31(cm3)
Small piece: 15.5(cm3)

If you weigh the water that somthing is in that same weight is pushing the object up.

Fanning a Temperature Sensor Question:
What will happen to the temperature when a temperature sensor is fanned?
We think the temperature will not change but if it dose it will only change by a degree or two.
We will also fan the temp sensor and record the difference between the normal temp. Also we will fan quicker and slower and record the results.
SUMMARY:
The results were that the temperature did not change very much it only changed by about .2 degrees celsius. No matter how many times we fanned it the temperature was almost never changed. For example when we fanned the sensor 0 times it was 22.2 degrees after fanning it 40 times the temperature was still 22.1 degrees.

Buner Safey
Use boiling chips to prevent poping, and splashing
All long hair must be in pony tail.
Need to wear safety glasses.
No dangling jewlrey.
Must roll up or remove long sleeves.
Must always be standing.
Never leave a test tube out on the table, must put it in a test tube rack.

=Energy Movie!
  • Solar cells convert light energy into electricity.
  • Electricity is the movment of electrons.
  • Power plants use steam to turn tubines and create electricty.
  • The faster somthing is moving the more kinetic energy somthing has.

What Is Rust???

Rust is the combination of oxygen, iron, and water. Through the combination of water an iron a certain acid is made, it is called Carbonic Acid.

The free oxygen and dissolved iron bond into iron oxide, in the process freeing electrons.
Iron oxide is the compound of oxygen and iron after the water had it's effect.

In our rust experiment the test tube started showing some rust after a two days, there is still an area with the rust on the steel wool; hopfully it will spread to the rest of the steel wool some.

In our rust experiment the test tube was showing some more rust after three days. Hopefully it will spread to the rest of the steel wool.
